Community Science Institute
The Community Science Instiute (CSI) at the HICCC was born out of the need for a community-focused educational piece of a larger initiative to increase diversity in clinical trials. The CSI provides diverse community members who live and work in New York City a foundational understanding of cancer clinical trials by teaching participants about research and common science terminology. The program is open to anyone interested, and ultimately prepares community members to advocate for or within cancer research teams.
The CSI trains cohorts of community scientists prepared to work on community-relevant clinical and public health research to better represent their own health needs, and that of their community.
