Your care team may include:
- Medical oncologists, who direct treatments such as chemotherapy, targeted therapy, and immunotherapy.
- Cardiologists, specialists in conditions of the heart.
- Nephrologists, specialists in conditions of the kidneys.
- Neurologists, specialists in conditions of the brain and nervous system.
- Bone marrow transplantation experts
- Pathologists, who examine tissue and fluid to look for changes in cells in order to classify a tumor’s stage and look for markers that will help your care team determine the best course of treatment for you.
- Surgeons, who do operations to remove cancer.
- Gastroenterologists, specialists in conditions of the digestive tract.
- Pulmonologists, specialists in conditions of the lungs.
- Radiation oncologists, who use radiation to precisely target cancer cells, causing them to be damaged and die.
