Natasha Piracha, MD
Overview
Dr. Piracha is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and Medicine at the Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, and attending physician for the Pediatric and Adult Palliative Medicine Service at the Columbia University Medical Center. Her palliative care interests include streamlining the transitions of care for children and young adults with chronic illness, and facilitating the understanding and addressing of social and cultural barriers to care.
Dr. Piracha completed her undergraduate studies at Rutgers University New Brunswick with degrees in Cell Biology and Neuroscience and Spanish. She received her medical degree from Rutgers University New Jersey Medical School (NJMS) in Newark, NJ, where she stayed to complete a combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics residency at Rutgers NJMS, serving as chief resident during her final year. She remained on for a second chief residency year at Rutgers NJMS for the Department of Internal Medicine at the East Orange Veterans Affairs, focusing on ambulatory and palliative care education. She completed her fellowship in Hospice and Palliative Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mt. Sinai in New York. During her non-service time, she has pursued her interests in global health, doing work in Peru, Haiti and Jordan.
