Safe Practices / Visitor Policy
In order to meet the needs of our patients and their loved ones, the hospital has open visitation, however, for the well-being of our patients, visitation may sometimes be limited.
For the safety of all our patients at the Adult Infusion Center, children under the age of 16 are not permitted in the treatment area. In addition, each patient is asked to only have two (2) visitors accompany them inside the treatment suite. Additional visitors will be asked to remain in the waiting room.
For the safety of all our patients, please do not bring a visitor who is sick with a cough, fever or rash. Patients receiving chemotherapy are especially susceptible to infections and limiting this type of exposure is of utmost importance for them.
Handwashing is one of the best ways to prevent infection so please be sure to use the hand sanitizers located throughout the unit and in the adjacent areas. We hope you will assist us in our efforts to prevent the spread of disease.
Most patients have two (2) appointment times on the day of treatment. The first appointment is with your physician/provider for a medical examination and the second is for treatment in the Adult Infusion Center. Being on time for your appointments will help us serve you better. It is advisable to arrive at the Infusion Center thirty (30) minutes prior to the scheduled appointment time with your provider to allow enough time for labs (blood work) to be drawn and processed.
NOTE: If your physician has ordered a blood transfusion, you will require a blood test for screening prior to the transfusion. To make the process more efficient you can come to the Infusion Center one business day before the transfusion to have a Blood Type and Screen sample drawn. This will allow the Blood Bank time to process the request and be ready for your appointment.
