Prostate Cancer: Symptoms

Prostate cancer often fails to produce any symptoms until the disease is in its later stages. Symptoms may include

  • A slowed urinary stream
  • Difficulty starting or holding back urine
  • Waking more often in the night to urinate
  • Blood in the urine
  • Impotence, difficulty having or maintaining an erection
  • Painful ejaculation
  • If the cancer has spread to bones – pain in the hips and back

However, some of these symptoms may be caused by a non-cancerous medical condition called Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia or BPH.
